"ECLECTIC" a 2008 ADMIRAL 40 Catamaran
OWNER'S NOTES.
This Catamaran has the living area of a luxury home and is as comfortable at sea as it is in the harbor.
"Eclectic" is ready for a circumnavigation or a local weekend getaway with friends.
Enter from either side up the stern steps onto the aft walkway which spans the full 24 feet beam.
Halfway between, just in front of the Fiberglass dinghy davits (with center console hard dinghy and 15HP Tohatsu) is the cockpit entrance, which has a large dining table and surround seating for 10 people.
Two steps up is the helm station with a double swiveling seat, still part of the action in the cockpit.
The electric winch has all major lines led back to it, and the reliable Raymarine electronics are complete with separate wind, speed, depth, autopilot and Navigation/Radar screen.
I have sailed this boat for thousands of miles solo.
Walk down two steps and enter the cool interior which is light, and trimmed in African Cherry with a Satin no maintenance finish.
To port is the roomy galley, complete and big enough for two to work in: it has separate fridge and freezer, a three burner propane stove and oven with a light and rotisserie in the oven.
There is a large stainless steel double sink, a custom cutlery drawer and a large counter with Microwave built in.
There is plenty of storage with a separate pot locker and 5 other lockers available.
To starboard is the salon with wrap around seating for 10, and underneath storage of your favorite beverages.
The salon is upholstered in a synthetic which looks and feels like leather but wears like something stronger.
The sole is a light colored laminate which never needs maintenance other than cleaning.
If you turn aft at the salon table you are at the Navigation station with a fold down Television with Satellite Antenna (get the weather station and Movies hundreds of miles offshore).
All of the electrical switches are here, well laid out and labeled.
There are the VHF radio, A Ham Radio with SSB, The controls and readout for the 4,130 watt solar panels and battery banks, the XM Radio base, DC and AC Power plugs and more.
There is also a remote control for the autopilot (usable anywhere on the boat) and a repeater screen inside forward between the galley and the salon so you can be inside during inclement weather.
In the locker under the Nav Station is the EPIRB, Tool bag and Ditch bag with Handheld VHF.
Go down into the port Hull and aft is a queen berth (custom mattress cushions) with a seat and large upright locker, along with 4 large storage lockers inside.
There are Oceanaire screens in both aft cabins.
All cabins have opening ports with screens and reading lights, custom fit linens and pillows.
Still in the port hull; there is a twin forward cabin with a huge forward locker and 4 other storage lockers.
The 4.2 KW Generator is under the forward bunk; (due to the 4 solar panels and upgraded engine alternators we only have 200 hours on the Genset).
In between those two cabins is a full electric head with a separate shower stall.
Both heads have solar vents that run 24/7.
Go into the starboard owners hull and the aft cabin is similar to the port side (but wider) and has a DVD player.
Moving forward there is more space with a separate vanity with mirror and drawer, hanging lockers, storage lockers and the electrical locker.
The 8 GPH watermaker is in one of the lockers and is easily accessible.
All the way forward is the owners head with a 4 person separate shower stall and electric head, and 4 more storage lockers.
The (2), 29HP Yanmar engines are under the aft bunks and are upgraded to 80 Amp Balmars, with centerfield electronics and an isolating transformer the boat is good for 100A or 220A with the flick of a switch.
The boat is just out of the yard (July 2011) with a bottom job, saildrive maintenance and the flexofold props cleaned, checked and balanced.
Coming back out into the cockpit and onto the aft walkway to starboard; is the Magma grill which is plumbed into the propane system.
Walk along the starboard side (plenty of handholds) and forward to three large lockers.
At the mast are the 3 reef lines and the Spinnaker Halyard (we designed the Spinnaker in red/blue and yellow with a nice pattern) which is asymmetrical and easy to fly.
There is a 6 person liferaft, and storage for all the sunscreen covers and canvas (complete for the large side windows and total cockpit coverage).
There are 2 forward seats and bench seats on either side of the mast, as well as the two trampolines.
"Eclectic" sails like a dream and the owner has been on the boat since launch in South Africa and sailed her back. "Eclectic" has never been chartered.
