with an impressive race history.
She was the 2008 West Coast IRC fleet
champion, won the IRC class in the Rolex Big Boat Series in SF,
several VARC Regattas and finished in the top 10 of the Victoria to
Maui international yacht race.
For the past several years she has been
raced cruised in the waters around Vancouver BC and the boat is in
great condition and race or cruiser ready depending on your interests.
Introduced in 1999 after more than two years in planning and design by
the Farr Yacht Design team, the First 40.7 design is
performance-oriented featuring a relatively narrow entry forward to
enhance upwind performance.
The maximum beam is carried well aft with
flat, straight runs for speed and power downwind.
The hull is
constructed of a solid laminate of fiberglass and resin utilizing
higher-cost vinylester resin only in the outer layer to reduce the
potential for osmotic blistering.
The end result is a hull and
powerful rig that provides excellent performance on the racecourse, in
the harbor or offshore The interior layout is conventional with a
V-berth forward followed by a starboard head accessible from either
the salon or the V-berth and a port hanging locker.
In the main cabin
there are mirror image settees with a drop-leaf centerline table
followed by a small galley to port and a large navigation station to
starboard.
There are mirror image quarter berth cabins aft with double
berths.
The exterior cockpit features removable lockers that provide
more space and less weight for racing.
Standard equipment includes
tall fractional rig, high-performance keel, and premium deck hardware.
A tall 910 fractional rig with swept spreaders, no runners and a
hydraulic backstay for sailing control.
Sail areadisplacement ratio of
23.2 and displacementlength ratio of 161.
