ROUTE 66 is an incomparable 70ft LOA, center cockpit, all carbonkevlar cruising sloop built in 1993 by Eric Goetz in Bristol, Rhode Island. Designed by BandR Design and Engineering (Lars Bergstrom and Sven Ridder), she is a very comfortable, rugged, water-ballasted, liveaboard cruiser that is easily sailed, managed and maintained by a couple without professional crew. She has a very simple fixed cutter rig with no backstays and a super clean deck layout with all anchoring gear, sporting equipment, tender and back-up rudder in dedicated and spacious belowdecks compartments. All running rigging is fully controlled from a secure center cockpit that has organized stowage for every line. Hydraulic primary winches are set up to handle high loads and the same system also controls the highly efficient lifting keel. There is a roll-in, roll-out dingy garage (no lifting required) that contains an Avon 3.4 RIB with a 15hp Yamaha outboard motor attached. A dingy fueling station with a 30 gallon tank for gasoline is nearby. There is a fold down step off the transom to the dingy garage and water surface (no ladder required for swimming).
